Fall Recipes; One for you and One for the kids!

Now that it’s fall, it’s time to bring cooking back into the kitchen! Here are two great recipes; one for you and one for the kids!

The first is for you! Last fall I tried Brussels sprouts for the first time, I know, I must be crazy but its true.

Brussels Sprouts

Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Bacon (and shallots)

1lb. Brussels Sprouts

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Salt and Pepper

3 Cloves Garlic

1 Shallot

1 tablespoon pine nuts  (feel free to use more, I do)

3 slices thick bacon, cut into small pieces

Pre heat the oven to 400°. Cut the sprouts in half; toss in the olive oil, salt, pepper, and  garlic. Roast in baking dish for about 20 minutes. In the mean time, toast the pine nuts in a skillet and set aside for later. In the same skillet crisp the bacon and shallots. Mix the pine nuts, bacon, and shallots into the Brussels Sprouts. Roast until the outside is crispy!

Now, for the kids! Homemade Apple Sauce! I have made applesauce before but I wish I would have had this recipe. It looks so easy and because it’s from the Pioneer Woman you know it’s good!

Enjoy! Applesauce
